International collaboration

In the era of globalization and internationalization, expanding international collaborations with reputable institutions and universities in the region and worldwide is an essential direction for all healthcare facilities in Vietnam. This holds particularly true for a pioneering teaching hospital like the University Medical Center. Enhancing international cooperation, primarily focused on professional exchange, technical transfer, and collaborative training, is of utmost importance and represents one of the hospital’s core functions.

The hospital consistently strengthens and consolidates its international cooperation relationships. From 2012 to the present, the University Medical Center has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with 48 international institutions, universities, and organizations. It has sent 395 staff members abroad for training to acquire the latest knowledge, techniques, and advanced technologies in diagnosis, treatment, and hospital management. The University Medical Center has established close partnerships with counterparts in South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, France, Italy, the United States, and more.

The hospital consistently provides the best conditions for its staff, including not only physicians but also nurses, technicians, and others, to participate in specialized training abroad, enhancing their professional competence and management skills, as well as gradually integrating into the international community.

In addition to sending staff abroad for training, the University Medical Center also promotes hosting foreign students for internships at the hospital. From 2011 to the present, the hospital has received 1,008 foreign students for internships in various specialties, including minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, orthopedic trauma surgery, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, and other specialized fields.

In the coming years, the hospital plans to continue sending staff abroad for training while developing various forms of expertise exchange, online and in-person consultations, in specialized areas such as minimally invasive surgery, organ transplantation, vascular interventions, oncology, and more, to further solidify its position as a leading university hospital in the country.
